Sadie Jane Travels: Rosemary Beach, FL

As I sit, more freckled than sunburnt (thank goodness for 80 SPF sunscreen!) in my home in WNC, I once again catch myself daydreaming about my sunny vacation in Rosemary Beach, FL. Despite it ending only a day ago, I miss it dearly. It provided a much-needed escape from my day to day routine and refreshed my wanderlust and inspiration. What I enjoyed most was the happy, carefree atmosphere that the local scene provided. It had everything a weary traveller could desire: tasty food, friendly people, and sunny skies. Needless to say, this vacation provided me with some long-overdue R&R  while reawakening my creativity. As I reflect back on the wonderful trip, I thought I would share some of the highlights from our venture. I even put together a little spring break vlog that you can watch here or at the bottom of this post, if you're interested. Anyway, here are a few of my recommendations if you are ever in the area!

WHAT TO EAT:

meltdown on 30A:

If you're looking for a good old fashioned grilled cheese (which, of course, I always am) this is the place to go. I enjoyed their classic grilled cheese, but their menu offers a plethora of options, even including a sandwich consisting of mozzarella, tomato, and basil (sounds delicious, I know!). They are located in Seaside, a nearby town. Trust me, the cheesy goodness is worth the trip!

la crema tapas & chocolate:

I'll admit, I am not well versed in Mediterranean cuisine, but after enjoying some incredible treats at Rosemary Beach's local Tapas Restaurant, I might just have to learn a thing or two about the area's food! I adored their La Crema Salad, a delicious mix of greens, goat cheese, and tomatoes. If salads aren't for you, they have a tempting variety of sweets, my favorite being the Salted Caramel Ice Cream. The sweet and salty flavor is unforgettable!

WHAT TO DO:

get some rest and relaxation, preferably beach side:

Of course, a vacation to the sunshine state isn't complete without enjoying the white sand beaches and turquoise waters. I loved reading (my beach reads included The Help and Frankie Magazine) while the waves splashed at my feet. To help with the heat, a nice beach umbrella will do the trick. Plus, a dip in the cold water will cool you off in a jiffy!

kayaking:

It has become a family tradition to have a kayaking adventure on every spring break trip we take! It provides a much needed escape from technology and a chance to enjoy the surrounding wilderness. Not many people know this about me, but I love to bird watch, and trips like these give me a chance to add birds to my list not native to WNC. We rented our kayaks at the Watercolor Boathouse and paddled along Western Lake. They offer canoes and paddle boards as well, if kayaking isn't for you.

shopping:

Of course, any vacation with me would not be complete without dabbling in the local shopping scene! I bought some adorable finds at a local boutique called Stellar. I got an adorable blue top that says "kinda wonderful" and even some cute pins for my backpack. They also had this cute "make a wish, tie a ribbon" feature outside of their shop! The vibes were so lovely and I can't wait to visit again.

If you want to see more of my spring break vacation, I put together a vlog that you can watch below or on YouTube. I hope you enjoy!

I hope your spring break has provided you with rest, inspiration, and fun!

XOXO,
Sadie
